Why I started a podcast

Updated: Jul 13, 2019

I have wanted to do this for 3 years but haven't had the self confidence to take action. About 6 months ago I told myself to shit or get off the pot...with the help of some special people this podcast is now a reality.

This show is based solely on behavioral health which combines the worlds of mental health & addiction. My life has been riddled with both of these afflictions. I entered long term recovery in the fall of 2015, at that very moment I knew that I wanted to dedicate the rest of my life to helping others who face the same struggles. Being an advocate for mental health and substance use is a cause that is near and dear to my heart.

This podcast will be released weekly and will feature a broad spectrum of guests from all walks of life.

Storytelling is another passion of mine, I enjoy hearing the stories of others. It is refreshing to sit with someone who is willing to go to an uncomfortable place and talk about the difficult parts of their life. Our listeners will hear amazing stories from courageous human beings that have lived experience with the challenges of behavioral health. In this podcast we will attempt to strip away all of the armor and get vulnerable when discussing these issues.

Another goal will be to directly address the stigma around mental health and addiction. This phenomena is a real problem that is present in all parts of the world. We are not lepers, we are not less than, we are normal people that happen to have some inconsistencies in our mental wiring. News flash....everyone on the planet has dealt with some form of struggle. All of us have had a moment of anxiety or have been down in the dumps. Most of us have dealt with loss or trauma and the sorrow that comes with it. These are all experiences in the world of mental health. The people that join us on this show are the brave, proud warriors that are trailblazing a path to raise awareness.

We will also hear from professionals that work in and around this community. They are the leaders, men and women who have their boots on the ground while working tirelessly to make the world a better place.

I look forward to taking this journey with you, the listeners. The hope is that we build a community around a population that has been cast aside for far too long.
